Note: While this course can be completed as a standalone training, it refers to core concepts (such as the "Hierarchy of Supply Needs") established in "The Reality of Supply Teaching & Your Role". In the world of supply teaching, the first 15 minutes are your "audition." Students decide within seconds if you are in charge or if they can disrupt the lesson. This module focuses exclusively on that high-stakes opening window, moving beyond theory into the logistics of immediate control. It addresses the specific reality of arriving late, entering chaotic rooms, or facing a class with no lesson plan. You’ll explore key actionable topics, including: Critical Information Triage: How to find the "Safety" and "Order" information you need in under 3 minutes. The "Walk-In" Strategy: Using body language and the "Silent Command" to reset a noisy room instantly. The Seating Plan Manoeuvre: How to enforce seating arrangements to shatter student anonymity. The Lesson Plan Problem: What to do when the work is missing, vague, or too short. Strategy A & B: Implementing the "Emergency Holding Task" and the "Extension Multiplier" to prevent boredom-induced disruption. Learning Objectives ✅ Recognise how to start a lesson when you arrive to a classroom before the learners. ✅ Recognise how to start a lesson when you arrive to a classroom after the learners. ✅ Identify strategies when you are provided a “bad” lesson plan or no lesson plan at all.
